Why had there been a bee/fly hovering over my garden all day?

They've been hovering over the same square metre all day now. The garden is lovely and sunny, got a few dandelions and a forsythia but no great abundance of pollen. It's looking at the buddleia now.

We've bumped into each other a few times but are otherwise social distancing.

It's a tiny police drone.

Was it one of these? If so, it's a hoverfly called Eristalis tenax. I photographed this one in the garden two days ago - there have been at least three more of them here every day. They are v cute.

Our garden gets those hover fly things. They like to stay in one spot pretending to be wasps.

They drive my dog crazy. He tries to snap them - until he gets a bee and then he seems to remember the pain - until next year

Yes, gerund those I think. They do like the sunshine.

They've been here as well. Signs of better weather.
