Hotbin or Aerobin composter? What's the difference/are they worth it?

Looking at getting a hot composter for our kitchen waste etc.

Has anyone got either of them or knows the difference? Thanks!

I bought a Hotbin and it's just arrived (v delayed due to lockdown). Have read all these comments with interest - I have high hopes as we often have a fair bit of shredded paper and shredded corrugated cardboard to dispose of. It sounds like I'll need to use lots of that and go easy on the meat bones... will update on how it works and how hot it gets in a few days!

Yay! I finally got my hotbin. I have it set up. I have some questions if anyone can help please?

-Did anyone use the hot water bottle method if you had a few handfuls of compost in there already?
-Did anyone fill it to the top straight away?

I have trugs full of grass and prunings (mix of green and brown). And garbage bags full of shredded paper. All ready to go. I have settled for half filling with two caddies of vege and fruit scraps and a good few handfuls of compost from the bottom of my cold compost bin.

but did anyone just go for it?

I've got the aerobin not the Hotbin, but I would say go for it. The more that's in there, the better it should work I think. I would say best to first go on the website, which is packed with detailed information and troubleshooting. Good luck, look forward to reports! xx

Their website is jam packed but actually not that well organised. I have learned more from people YouTube videos.

I know this thread has been quiet for a while, but I've been reading with interest and was wondering if anybody had experience using a hotbin on a balcony? We don't have garden and the council doesn't collect food waste, so it all goes into landfill... They do offer a discounted 100L hotbin though, which would just about fit. I'm thinking of combining it with a Bokashi bin to speed things up. Would that be feasible?
