My parents usually have a gardener come and cut their grass because at 79 and 83 they can no longer do so. Is that gardener allowed to come and do it if they don't need to open the door to him?

Lots of Gardeners are still working. I called my DAaunt yesterday and she was thrilled that hers had been that day. I can’t see why it would be a problem Smile

My daughter is a gardener and still working. She has quite a few elderly customers and keeps a safe distance from them. Most of them leave money in an envelope for her or leave a cheque

Is that gardener allowed to come and do it The legislation is a lot less wide than the government guidance.

There isn't legislation about who they can invite to their home, just guidance. I think the legislation covers travel, the guidance certainly does - so gardener can travel because he's travelling to work which he can't do from home.

So it's not about what they're allowed to do, it's what they're safe to do. So keep a safe distance, don't touch anything he's touched. Conversely, protect his safety - don't touch things he's about to touch, perhaps prepare money early, wash hands, put it in an envelope, then don't touch it for several days, and wash hands again before putting it out for him. This isn't official guidance, it what I did when I paid cash to someone delivering at the weekend.

Thank you. I think all that is sensible advice. I'll pass it on to the rents x
