Pond and plants

Hi,
We moved a few months ago and there is a pond in our back garden. It looks like the pond has a lot of plants in it but around the pond is quite barren. What is good to plant? We have a bit of space all around it. What is good for wildlife? We like green/white/purples and have no idea about gardening.

For frogs you need an area of dense planting. My baby frogs are mainly in longish grass and among alpine strawberry plants.

Stick to native or european for wildlife, and single flowers rather than doubles. AL lot of our native wildflowers are very showy, eg marsh marigolds (Caltha palustris), purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria), meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria),
