I was going to say 'a weed' but its called a spotted dead nettle apparently.

No it's not spotted dead nettle (Lamium maculatum) it's a smaller plant, the related red dead nettle, Lamium purpureum. Good for bees. have a look through a magnifying glass - the buds are down covered, like a kitten's paw, as are the top petals.

I've not heard it called ground nettle; there is another similar plant, called ground ivy, with blue flowers.

Hedge dead-nettle. Fantastic for wildlife, let it grow. It won’t take over, it is shy but strong and a pretty wildflower.
