Has anyone cut their grass yet?

Exactly that! I’m itching but haven’t heard anyone on the street yet so don’t know if it’s too early?

It feels like it hasn't stopped raining here for the past 6 months so I don't think my grass will ever be dry enough to cut ever again.

TARSCOUT · 04/02/2020 08:38

My grass has turned to mud courtesy of Scottish weather and two pups. Will never have to cut it again as the dreaded chips.are going down.

LotusInspired · 04/02/2020 08:38

I cut last Thursday Smile I’m in the South East

AhoyMrBeaver · 04/02/2020 08:40

No, still too wet here. It's not growing yet anyway, so I'm in no rush.

Sweetpea1989 · 04/02/2020 08:45

The sparrows we’re having a dust bath in the beds last week so it should have been dry enough then. Forecast looks dry for the next three days so I’m hoping later this week. Mine is deffo growing now.

Ours is definitely growing but way too wet to cut.

TwoPointFourKidsAndADog · 04/02/2020 08:55

Husband wanted to cut the grass on Sunday because it's getting so long it's harder to do the dog poo pickup (sorry, TMI).

He cleaned the shed out instead!

bigbluebus · 04/02/2020 09:04

Yes DH cut ours on Sunday - we are in the Midlands.

Norfolkbumpkin · 04/02/2020 09:10

Yep, cut ours last Saturday. We'd had a couple of dry days, and Saturday itself was dry, sunny and windy, so I thought I'd go for it! We're in the east.

Itsagrandoldteam · 04/02/2020 09:17

Yes, we have cut ours twice already. Very early in January and again on Saturday.
It is much drier now than it was in November, part of our lawn was very squelchy back in Nov, but has now dried out considerably.

BigFatLiar · 04/02/2020 09:19

Needs cut but is still a but wet.

NanTheWiser · 04/02/2020 09:39

Yes, did mine on Saturday, it looks so much tidier now! (South East).

Meetmeinfantasyland · 04/02/2020 09:40

I'm in the south. We cut ours last Saturday.

ConcentricCircles · 04/02/2020 09:41

People are being asked not to cut their lawns as often from now on as the bees really need the pollen that can be gathered from the clover, daisies and dandelions . So it has been suggested to only cut once every 3 weeks or so instead of the usual weekly one.

I've decided to do this this year and see how it goes.

movingdilemma1234 · 04/02/2020 09:47

So glad someone has asked this as mine is growing really fast in south east. However it's rained almost daily since the autumn so although mild the grass is still too soggy here

BigusBumus · 04/02/2020 09:57

I have Greenthumb take care of my lawn (we have a formal garden near the house and then 2 acres of more field like garden / paddock with a spinney with all the things for bees in that Greenthumb doesn't do, before anyone yells at me).

They told me to cut the grass, but on a higher setting than in summer, whenever i want to.

MereDintofPandiculation · 04/02/2020 10:32

I'd be annoyed if I had to do mine before the end of April.

It's far too wet to put a mower on at the moment, but soon will be full of daffodils, crocuses, tulips, cowslips and fritillaries - an excellent excuse to do no more than mow a path through it until end May.

yellowallpaper · 04/02/2020 11:13

No, but I saw loads of flowering daffodils on a roadside verge yesterday! Stop it, it's February

BigFatLiar · 04/02/2020 16:13

Daffodils are almost out, midges are making an appearance - I blame brexit!

Billyeyelash · 04/02/2020 16:16

I'll never need to cut my lawn again. The grass has disappeared and replaced with moss. It's so spongey.

MadisonAvenue · 04/02/2020 16:23

It’s growing but the ground is far too wet.

dementedpixie · 04/02/2020 16:27

My garden is like a swamp due to lots of rain. We even had hailstones last night

eavers · 04/02/2020 16:28

Ours has turned into moss as well

Redshoeblueshoe · 04/02/2020 16:35

Too wet here, Manchester

ColaFreezePop · 04/02/2020 16:37

I have bulbs in my grass so can't cut it until mid/end March as they are flowering now.
