Large terrace

I have a very large terrace and I really really need to cover it with plants and colours.

1- can you tell me what plants can go happily in vases? Even small trees?

2- do you know anyone who does green walls in the London area? Are they worth it?

3- I am never going to be able to put a compost bin on it, am I? Or to rephrase, is there anyone here with a compost bin on the terrace?

Thank you!!

I am never going to be able to put a compost bin on it, am I? I don't see why not, but you'd have to import some worms instead of relying on them coming up from the soil.

Would it not be really smelly?

Would it not be really smelly? No, why would it be?

When you say vases do you mean pots? Yes, lots of plants will go in pots, especially if you're willing to invest in some very large ones, or even some raised beds. Do you think you could lift some of the paving (if you had raised beds it would help with drainage).

On compost bins, have never tried that - would worry about stuff seeping out onto the paving and as another poster said you'd need to introduce worms (again, if you could try lifting a paving slab which would help).

Green walls .. know nothing about them except that they are overhyped and must need a huge amount of irrigation ...
