It looks like it's been dug out by a large beak! I have starlings and pigeons invade the back lawn but they don't dig that big a hole. Not rabbits or badgers so i'd say more likely bird than animal. What do others think? Just thought..maybe a mouse?

smugmug · 02/10/2019 10:24

Looks a bit like badgers to me to be honest

Bluntness100 · 02/10/2019 10:25

I'd also have thought a badger or a rabbit.

Bluntness100 · 02/10/2019 10:26

Yes if you google badger or rabbit holes they look like this.

KatyMac · 02/10/2019 10:29

OK small suburban street in centre of a town so if it's badgers I'd be very surprised

Pet rabbit escaped? DH thought fox but I didn't think they dig

Is cat possible? It didn't strike me as cat behaviour!

Squirrel? They're busy burying things at the moment.

MereDintofPandiculation · 02/10/2019 10:44

I've had something like that go after the bulbs in my lawn - have put a trail camera up but not yet looked at the footage. Could be rat or grey squirrel, possibly also bank vole or mouse.

flamingjune123 · 02/10/2019 10:49

I've got very similar in my garden. I'd assumed rat or vole

maidenover · 02/10/2019 10:51

We have a squirrel that is constantly digging our lawn at the moment. DH thought it looked like a badger until we caught him at it!!

KatyMac · 02/10/2019 10:56

Squirral is the most probable I guess

Thanks

Yes, squirrel, we have those kind of holes every year.
