What to grow under cherry blossom tree

I bought loads of bulbs today (crocus and chionodoxa) and wanted to plant them around a cherry blossom tree which gets a good amount of sun. I had planned to naturalise but getting the bulbs through grass was too hard so have dug myself a circular bed. Now I am wondering what it will look like after late spring when the other flowers die. Do they die right back and what else could i plant for summer/autumn colour?

Crocus and Chionodoxa die right back, but their foliage doesn't die down until 2 months after flowering.

Summer planting under trees is always difficult because a) once the leaves are on, it is shady 2) it is dry shade (because the tree is taking all the water) and that's particularly challenging.

It depends, of course, how large your cherry tree is. If it's still not much more than a sapling, you can grow most things. If it's a full grown tree, then what I've said above applies.
