This flew up in my garden this year. Is it a weed? I planted a load of bulbs but only a few took, and I don't think this was one I planted to be honest!

Hard to see - can you take a photo closer up?

CremeDeSudo · 23/08/2019 19:06

Is that any good?

Looks like this? Mine are dying back a little and look like yours.

Whatever it is the vine weevils love it by the looks of things.

I think it is redshank- a weed or, as I like to call them, a 'wildflower'. My patio has lots of 'wildflowers'!

Hmm, I don't know whether to pull it up or not now! It's not ugly and is certainly easy to maintain! Grin

I would keep it. Redshank is a Persicaria (as is Bistort), and there are plenty of garden varieties of Persicaria. Even if yours isn't a named garden variety, no-one will know. It flowers late in the season when other flowers are going over and isn't troublesome.

Ok thanks, I'll keep it for now at least 😊
