Looking for advice....

I am so pleased I have tomatoes this year :) and we have been eating some already but there will still be some on the plants when I go on holiday .... I;m away for nearly 2 weeks....
what do i do? do I pick them and put them somewhere cool to ripen inside or do i leave them on the vine?? am worried they will fall off! if its too wet/dry

Am in london and its a south east garden if that makes any difference ...and do i do the same to my slightly less performing chlli plant too???

THanks...

If they are green when you go away, they should be perfectly ready for picking when you get back.

Are they in a greenhouse/poly tunnel, or outside?

Who is going to water them while you are away?

HI- they are outside - some in pots a couple in the ground.... I have no-one to water ! was wondering about using plastic bottles /spouts.?

The plastic bottle spout thing can work, a bit hit and miss. Look at the long range weather, chances are it will rain.

Since they're outside, I'd be inclined to pick any that are already orange, as they will ripen inside. Spread them out on a plate, so if one ripens a bit quick and then goes rotten, it won't upset the others.

Green ones, definitely leave on the plant.

If they plants were in the greenhouse and protected from slugs, I'd suggest leaving them all on the plant.

Chilli - leave them on the plant. They don't fall off, even if the plant itself dies. You can even dry them on the plant!

Great thanks... one less thing to do before I go - yes rain forecast .....
