Stench of decay

It's coming from the decking which is rotting but the landlord isn't interested in replacing it. I've got mares tails coming up under it and moss growing. It smells like something has died under there. Any ideas what I can do? I no longer have a jet washer to clean it but will buy one if necessary. My back is not up to scrubbing it with a decking brush. there was a dead rat on the decking a few weeks ago which was promptly disposed off outside the property. I wonder if there's more under there 😩 next door has poison down.

You can either go searching for whatever it is or wait for it to pass.

I'm afraid to say it could be an animal that has died under there. Have you got more flies than usual?

Unscrew the decking, find out and take photos for the Landlord so that they know what they are dealing with.

The smell was bad a few weeks back and then disappeared but has come back. The entire garden is decked so I can't take it all up looking for something. No flies but wasps. We have a house inspection next week so I'll point it out again.
