Anyone know what this is? It's starting to look like a tree? No signs of any flowers or fruit though.

Castor oil plant maybe?

Twixes · 28/07/2019 21:17

I googled castor oil plant and it looks similar but I don't think that's what it is. The pattern of the veins on the leaves are different. Baffling!

It looks like a self seeded Peony Tree sapling. If so the leaves will fall off in Autumn and it could take a couple of years to flower.

It does look like my tree peony, which is now over 6ft and has some lovely flowers in May time.

MereDintofPandiculation · 28/07/2019 22:03

Agreed, tree paeony.

Wow, that seems to be what it is! I've literally been scouring the internet for ages trying to figure out what it is. Thank you so much.

Now to decide whether I want to keep it, I have a Chilean lantern tree sapling about 2 ft away from it that I think I might prefer in that space.
