How to look after this house plant?

I have acquired this plant, I believe it is a schefflera amate. How often do I need to water it?

I've got one I've had several years and 'when I remember' seems to work.

They don’t mind a bit of neglect. I put mine outside for the summer.
If it grows a bit leggy, you can prune bits off and root them in water.
