It looks like a penstemon.

That makes a bit of sense as I think I planted a penstemon - thanks!

It obviously likes where it is as it’s gone bonkers 🤦‍♀️

I'm not sure you need to do much with it other than deadheading - I'd generally remove entire spent flowering stems rather than individual flowers for that sort of thing.

Thank you - was getting worried as the base is quite tangled and thick and lots of dead leaves were caught in it and with some recent rain it was all about sludgy and rotten and the base / have cleared as much as I can now.
