Black/purple spores?

Hello all,

Husband and I know less than nothing about Gardens but these patches have just shown up on our new build, newly turfed lawn. As well as some mushrooms.

Any idea what these patches are and if we should be concerned (we have toddler twins and a dog).

Thanks in advance.

Just to add, if you touch them they turn powdery which is implying to me it may be some type of fungal spore.

It's a slime mould - shouldn't be of great concern:

Was it the developers who got the new turf laid, or did you get a landscaper in? New turf realy shouldn't have musrooms or toadstools growing in it (they are impossible to get rid of) so if I were you I'd contact whoever was resposible for laying it and get them to replace it.

Thanks for the replies--yes it was the developer who had the turf laid and to be honest we were considering getting it re laid anyway as its fairly poorly done!

We have NHBC coming out on Tuesday anyway so I shall mention the lawn to them then.
