I don’t think it’s a problem if the plant has got too big. Our courgettes sometimes have such large leaves they mask other things, so the odd leaf has to go.
If the plant has mildew, not much can save it.

I once did this and my plant became infected. I would leave well alone TBH.

Someone told me to, to let more light in. I've tried it with one plant. Seems fine at the moment but I'm leaving the others alone in case it's the kiss of death.
