What can I plant now?

Having been a bit busy with my DD earlier in the year I have harvested everything but my onions which are looking a bit poorly. What can I plant now to keep the excitement going? I have a 3m x2m plot on clay (and a greenhouse).

Thanks!

Mmmm - salad leaves will keep going throughout as will beetroot and radishes, plant spring cabbage for next year, purple sprouting broccoli for next year (best do that quickly), can plant broad beans later in the season for an early spring crop, cut an coma again spinach varieties keep going throughout as do leaves such as chicory & endive

Muddytwoshoes · 29/07/2007 00:20

Sorry cut & come again spinach varieties

You might also get away with a final sowing of French beans - weather permitting - always worth a go - also carrots can be sown now for a late crop

Tomatoes might go.

Some great suggestions. I have toms in the greenhouse already. So will go with some of the leaves you suggested. And will stick some more French beans in today, DD loves them!

Do you think Spring Onions will be ok? They are quite quick aren't they?

given the weather, I would advise rice!

Try spike, an all the year round broccoli, and of course saladings such as radish, lettuce, rocket , beetroot, late carrots, kohl rabi and turnip

oh turnips! I suppose I can do swede as well, I love mashed swede with a big roast dinner in the winter. Will look for the broccoli too!.

Thanks for your help, if I have spares I know who to offer it to first

Last week I planted

Autumn King (I think) carrots

Beetroot

Broad Beans

Climbing Beans

No idea what I am doing really just went by the sowing guide on the packet and they all said sow till August.

Thanks cece. I have some Autumn King but the weather was so bad I didn't do any successional sowings and the first lot never came up (we had one carrott!) Will find the pack and give them a try.

My problem has been a v demanding baby and bad weather so after the first things I sowed in April (when the in laws visited) I have only been managing to do the odd bit of weeding and harvesting. MIL is visiting next week so I plan on making the most of the better weather. So sad to be looking forward to the MIL visit so I can do some gardening? Aghh I am my Mother!
