I took my DD to a stately home (I know, I know) and found this gorgeous border. So, there is a row of lavender, a row of roses and a row of .... purple flowering mint?

If anyone knows what it is, please tell me as idolise to recreate this at home.

Thanks!!

Thyme, I think but someone more knowledgeable than me will be along soon...

Can’t get the pic big enough on phone to see the leaves but could be salvia (sage family)

It's napeta catmint.

Catmint. Nepeta. Fairly easy to grow, likes a sunny spot. Some cats love it others are meh.

Others will confirm, as I can't enlarge your photo (on iPad atm) but it looks very like cat-mint to me, OP - otherwise called Nepeta. Not sure which variety, though; there are lots.

Arlen Hall has similar coloured roses with catmint framed by hostas

Nepeta, cat mint. Bees love it.

Thank you! I’ll look up catmint and I’ll plant a test pastiche first as the place I plan to put it in is quite shady.

Yes, Nepeta, very commonly grown as a companion to roses. Same family as mint, but the leaves are softer and greyer, and it's more floriferous, and it doesn't smell of mint. Thyme is also the same family, but doesn't grow that tall, and its flowers are in rounded heads rather than tall spikes. Lavender is the same family too.
