Hi, I have an old petrol lawnmower that my neighbour kindly gave me.
It's really heavy and I find it almost impossible to start using that pull cord.

I have been looking at flymos but the different kinds and conflicting reviews are confusing me.

I'm on a tight budget so I'm looking for something as cheap as poss but not so cheap it's useless..
Any advice would be great, thanks.

I have a Qualcast, think it was about £65 from Homebase. Its really light, dead easy to use and store. It suits my smaller garden perfectly.

I have a Bosch electric one and I love it.

If you have anything larger than the tiniest of gardens I wouldn’t go for a hover Flymo one (I know they do other types).

You don’t need to spend loads - go for an electric one, with wheels, with the highest wattage you can afford. We got one from Argos for about £45 and it’s been excellent.

If you have a very large lawn petrol is generally better.

How much lawn do you have to mow?

I have a fairly basic electric Qualcast and works brilliantly in my small/medium garden. Nice and light + easy to store as userxx mentioned.

I'm quite a fan of Aldi garden electricals. I think they have an electric lawnmower on their website/ instore that comes with a 3 year warranty.

How big of a lawn do you have?
For a small lawn this is good value

Actually maybe give the Aldi one a miss - the reviews are a bit mixed.

Hi thank you everyone.
I have probably a medium garden at the back and small at the front.
It's not a nice flat lawn it's pretty bumpy.

I was looking at the flymo easymo maybe?
Thank you for the recommendations I will have a look at them.

I have a flymo hover vac 280 and a small garden. I'm pretty happy with it.

I have a flymo easy glide that does my medium sized lawn fine.

We have an older version of this Flymo Speedi-Mo (www.<a class="break-all" href="https://amazon.co.uk/Flymo-Speedi-Mo-Electric-Wheeled-Cutting/dp/B01N39MZP3/ref=dp_ob_title_hi)?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-gardening-3628269-Please-help-me-choose-a-lawnmower" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">amazon.co.uk/Flymo-Speedi-Mo-Electric-Wheeled-Cutting/dp/B01N39MZP3/ref=dp_ob_title_hi) and its great for our small garden. Three years in, and its still going strong.

Don't get the Aldi one it's absolute shite. Actually wrecked our lawn by pulling clumps out of it.

We replaced it with a cordless Flymo mighty mo which has been great and the (reasonably sized) lawn gets cut more often now I don't have to faff on with extension cables etc. The battery does the garden just about twice on a full charge.

Thanks everyone. I got the Flymo easymo.
It was so lovely to just push the button and go.
It made me realise even more what an awful slog the old one was.
I put the old one on a free facebook site and was really shocked when I got loads of replies and messages wanting it.
Someone is coming to pick it up tomorrow so hopefully we will both be happy Smile
