Lavender in partial sun - will it work?

I’ve planted some lavender in my garden. It gets about four to five hours of sun a day and is in shade for the rest of it, due to the sun swinging behind a nearby tree. Will that be enough sun for it do you think? I don’t think any spot in my garden gets full sun all day, so I’m not sure where else I can put it really...

Mines in partial sun, it does fine.

Some lavenders are happier in partial sun, often the ones with the feathery tops, sometimes called 'butterfly lavender'.

If you know which one you have you could find out the best position for it, although some of mine are in full sun and some are not, they flower anyway, I am just more careful with the more fragile ones.

I’ve got one in partial sun and one in a somewhat shady spot because a neighbouring tree grew over it. Both are fine but just haven’t grown as big as the third one from the same batch that is in full sun
