Does anybody know what this is? I admire it whenever I walk past it. It'd look lovely in my back garden

evil stuff when you are trying to dig it out or prune it wear gloves.

PancakeAndKeith · 29/06/2019 13:16

Don’t plant it unless you really really want it every bastard where.

Thank you. I've got some large gaps in the shrubbery bit of my garden so I might just risk it

Hypericum calycinum. All Hypericums are called St John's Wort, this one is also called Rose of Sharon.

Mine hasn't spread and is easy to prune.
It fills a space and flowers profusely. The flowers grow on new growth so if you want to prune it do do as soon as the flowering period is over.

Great, thanks
