Bought some freestanding wire troughs last year and over winter lined with coir lining, filled with gravel/compost and planted tulips and wallflowers . However the birds have systematically pecked away at the liner for nest material causing the soil to harden then fall out and plants to fail. Anyone have any alternative birdproof ideas please as would like to replant with nasturtiums etc.
