Anyone know what’s eating this clematis, please?

It happens every year (& it never grows any taller!)

Mostly petals but some leaves too.

There are taller ones a few feet away but they flower later & don’t seem to suffer.

It looks like earwig damage - they feed at night, so you might never see them. You could try making some earwig traps, to see of they are the culprits.
