Was a lovely deep green about 6 months ago has lived on a very sunny windowsill and watered little bit often or so I thought but has now started turning reddy / brown which I presume is the beginning of the end???

Is this dying??

Is it an aloe Vera?

Probably got a bit too hot, move it and see if it improves. Could probably do with repotting too.

I've no idea what it is just looked nice in the garden centre before I killed it Blush

I will move it, repot and see if it recovers.

Of it's an aloe they like it a bit gravelly. Hopefully someone else will know and advise properly!

It's reacting to the extra sunlight, perfectly normal for Aloes and many other succulents - a bit like a suntan! Provided the leaves aren't going soft or mushy, it should be fine.

FusionChefGeoff · 01/06/2019 16:30

Oh that's reassuring! So if I move it to a less sunny spot will it go back to green? @NanTheWiser

Yes, probably, Fusion, but all succulent plants enjoy as much light as they can get (that's what they are adapted to), but in the end, it's entirely your choice where you keep it.

If you watered little but often you might actually have suffocated it with too much water Shock

Wait till the earth is dry and then water well, leave it for half an hour and then make sure to lift it out of any remaining water (discard the extra water).
