What's this plant? It's growing in our garden hedge and I've never seen it there before. We live in a rural area in the South West. Thanks 😊

I thought it might be mock orange but the 6 petals thing is throwing me.

Gatekeeper · 26/05/2019 20:13

oh- that's pretty. Is the leaves in the photo part of the plant?

DeepestBlues · 26/05/2019 20:38

It is very pretty! The stems are long and the leaves are sort of brown. The green leaves surrounding it are something else. Couple more photos here.

Had to come back to this (found one of my own puzzling weeds on the journey.)

I think it's some sort of hepatica.

PickAChew · 26/05/2019 23:04

OK, so maybe not - since you have clusters of flowers in your bottom pics. I thought maybe some type of anemone, from the habit, but it's too small, really.

Download the app ‘my garden answers’ and you can photograph any plant and it will identify for you. I love this app!

White quince

The white quince and cotoneaster have 5 petals and not the long stems...I think the background of other leaves is confounding the identification apps. What are the leaves of this plant like?

ErrolTheDragon · 27/05/2019 01:28

Does it smell of anything? The clusters of white flowers on a long stem is reminding me of alliums, but this doesn't have such a globe of flowers as most of them. This looks similar except for the stem colour:

Beebumble2 · 27/05/2019 07:42

I agree that it looks like a type of Allium, or wild garlic which is the same family as Allium. Take a leaf and crush it, does it smell of onions?

Are there any in your neighbours gardens? Very pretty, anyway.

DeepestBlues · 27/05/2019 09:52

The leaves do smell of onions or garlic! Thank you!

Allium neopolitanum?

Spelt it wrong! Allium neapolitanum.

Could be.
