Hi,

I have a large clump of Oriental Poppies that has got really too large for where they are planted.

They haven't flowered yet although they do have lots of heads about to flower so I was wondering if it is safe to move them now or should I wait?

Thanks in advance Smile

Don’t move them now or you will lose all the flowers. Lift them and divide them once the flowers have finished..

I don't know anything about gardening OP. Soz. But I hope you don't mind if I'm a CF and hide on your thread from another poster.

I offer Gin and 🍫.

Should give the thread a bump for you.

Thank you Florentina Smile I had a suspicion this might be the case. There are tons of heads too so it would be a shame to lose them.

No problem Einsteins GrinI think sometimes you need somewhere to hide on Mumsnet Wine

They do look really strange in their pods Grin Mine are a really bright vivid red but yours sound gorgeous.

They have never been this big before and just seem to have spread like wildfire this year. They have completely taken over the border so I think I will just have to wait to move them now. At least they are gorgeous while they last though Smile

They are gorgeous Bob Smile I've just ordered some mixed seeds so I will be hoping there are some like yours in there now!

This is a picture of mine from last year. As you can see they weren't quite so overgrown back then Grin With a bit of luck I might be able to divide them and get two nice clumps though once they are finished flowering.

GrinGrin and Wine for Arti and Einsteins. This is the first time I have seen hide and seek on Mumsnet and has definitely made me laugh Grin

Be warned, capture every bit of root: I 'moved' mine but they still come up in the old place.

Siameasy · 29/05/2019 23:48

They are absolutely gorgeous
