Help me identify this plant!

I really should know what this is given that I bought it and planted it last year! For the life of me though, I cannot remember the name.

It's quite invasive and self seeds everywhere. I also know that the flowers can be either white, pink/red or yellow.

As we are moving house I'd really like to buy another one (already digging up a lot of plants so I'm leaving this one).

Anyone have any ideas?!

Help me identify this plant!

@BobTheDuvet Thank you so much! 😊 Yes your right, doubt the new neighbours will notice too much if I dig a bit up!

Owners not neighbours! 🤦‍♀️

If it sets any seed before you go, collect it and chuck it on the new garden. You'll have hundreds before you know it. I grew it once and was pulling out stray ones every week until I moved. DH won't let me have it any more. I still love it.

I’ve never seen yellow valerian! I covet the white one for my garden.

LazyLemur · 26/05/2019 12:38

My favourite is the bright red one. Against a stone wall or a blue sky. The sight of home ❤

Siameasy · 26/05/2019 13:17

Oh an unusual colour. I know what you mean it does self seed. I really like Valerian especially the bold red

bibbityb0bbityboo · 26/05/2019 17:54

I love it too! But was in two minds about having it again at the new house @LazyLemur @Siameasy due to the fact it gets everywhere! The problem with it here was that it self seeded in the cobbled paths around the house which was a nightmare but hopefully will be easier to keep on top of when we move as there is only grass and borders.

@MyNameIsJane I may be wrong about the yellow variety.. I remember reading something about it when I first bought it last year (before the name evaded me) but could well be thinking of a different plant Blush

Thanks for the replies, I only just got into gardening last year and have a habit of forgetting to keep the name tags of the plants I've bought!

Love Valerian, it grows along the edge where my drive meets the house and makes a beautiful display. I’m also after a white one. !

LazyLemur · 26/05/2019 19:36

I think OP your plant is the white form of "Red Valerian" Centranthus Ruber rather than the offical valerian Valeriana Officinalis (different leaves). Just in case you wanted to buy/grow it again Smile
It also comes in purple!

bibbityb0bbityboo · 27/05/2019 11:34

Ah thanks @LazyLemur I'll screenshot the name so I don't forget!

I dug a little up yesterday and potted it up, it's not looking too happy though unfortunately but fingers crossed it survives until we move Smile
