Fence paint for small gardens

What colour would be best for a garden roughly 40 foot long?
Lots of trees at the back hanging over and rarely full sun due to the position so ideally avoiding browns.
Would a lighter colour like grey work best?
Any photos or recommendations would be appreciated!

I love darker colours like dark grey. Black can look brilliant if your fence is in good condition. I also really like aubergine colours for fences, they look great against greens.I used wilko city slate for our very old bench and that looks nice. It is a mid grey, but I wish I’d gone darker.

We used Cuprinol silver copse, looks nice against green.

I agree black looks amazing in the right garden though.

I like dark green as your eye doesn't focus on the fence and it blends in with the rest if the greenery.

I have used Country Cream and Muted Clay. Love them both, but muted Clay is the one that gets the most compliments and is better on a fence. Will go and get some photos to post. Really pleased with it, have had a couple of neighbours also use the same paint as they like it too. It changes colour throughout the day and is so bright and lovely in winter.

This.

It will make the space look larger.

Seconding Silver Copse, I won't go back to green or brown.

Black fences are great because they tend to disappear. The only issue is maintenance as they can look shabby if you allow them to weather

I like green too, it blends in and it made a big difference when we did this to our back fence where I would have loved a hedge but our neighbour preferred the fence.

The muted clay above looks lovely though.

Love the muted clay. I like dark grey fences, Cuprinol Urban Slate looks fabulous on fences.

SoManyMoons · 25/05/2019 10:16

Thanks for the compliments on my fence. I also like Urban Slate.

Going to buck the trend here and say go bright. This is called Bahama Blue and it really compliments the small but sweet garden in sunmer when everything is in bloom. Always cheers me up when I see it out of the back door.

The muted clay is lovely. I also like a pale sage green.
