does it help deter slugs and snails ? Is it a better mulch than chipped wood/bark ?

I used it on my large herbaceous borders for the first time 3 years ago and have just replenished everywhere again this spring.I think it's great as it's light and easy to spread around and breaks down slowly making the soil very easy to work with.As for slugs yes I think it does help. There is still a bit of damage on the hostas, but nowhere near as much as previously.I bought a bulk order direct from Strulch and have some left to top up.

It works well but it does smell pretty weird!

Agreed. It has iron in it apparently so smells sort of metallic. Also always wear gloves as can make your skin itchy if spreading a lot.Otherwise easy to handle.

I've just ordered some .

Sarah Raven seems to be the cheapest at £9.95 a 100l bag ( I can't order large amounts ) with a flate rate delivery charge of £4.99 .And an offer of £5 for introducing a friend .
