Can anyone tell me what these plants are please

The first 2 photos (if they attach in the order I've added them) are the same but one flowers in a deep red and the other in an off white colour

The third (purple flowers) I planted late summer early autumn and it looks so lovely in flower I'd like to get more this year but cant remember what it isBlush

I think the the two that are not flowering yet are peonies possibly. Placemarking for the name of the flowering one as it looks lovely!

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 16/05/2019 18:30

Thanks death.

Definitely not peonies, wish they were, every attempt at peonies fails for me, I have one dying a slow death at the moment.

First picture with the purple/blue flowers is Jacobs Ladder I think - there is a dark leaved variety I can't remember the name of. Last picture I think is Astilbe. Google them maybe I'm right! Grin

The photo's tiny but I also thought astilbe.

Beebumble2 · 16/05/2019 18:35

I don’t know what’s in picture 1 but it’s very pretty. In 2 and 3 I think they’re Astilbe. Do the flowers come up on long fluffy spikes?
.

DeathMetalMum · 16/05/2019 18:36

Ah it's was the dark stems/leaf shape. They look similar to the ones my mum has.

Off to Google jacobs ladder, and put in an imaginary space in the garden that doesn't exist.

Minkies11 · 16/05/2019 18:37

Polemonium Heaven Scent = jacobs ladder.

Minkies11 Thank you very much you're right on both.

Thanks to tdm1 as well.

I've been googling for a few days and come up empty handed

I may have to take a picture of my poorly peonie to see if anyone has advice on if it can be saved

There's a free app called British Trees that will help you. You answer questions about the leaves and flowers from options and it pops out the name! Good luck!

Cotswoldmama · 16/05/2019 19:04

Download the iNaturalist app it's amazing it identifies all wildlife plants bugs etc!

ImNotNigel · 16/05/2019 19:07
