I have waited years for this tree Peony to flower, it was self seeded.
I just have to share it’s display.

Lovely, OP!

I have one and it’s beautiful! You are so lucky 😁

Dh knows he’s not allowed to even look at it funny!

I had the same tree and cut it out last week. I love peonies but hate the yellow!

HoppityChicken · 15/05/2019 11:30

Stunt Croissant - I can't deal with yellow, but in anyone else's garden no problem, what is that?

The tree peony looks amazing however, love it when plants do that 'I'll flower when I want to' thing and come good.

Been waiting years for mine to flower as well and I'm really chuffed - got 2 flowers out and about half a dozen buds to go.

Thanks for the comments. I know it’s a rather bright yellow, not what I’d plant, but I feel kind of privileged that the seed chose my garden to grow in. It’s next to a magenta Rhododendron so when it’s bud come out fully, in the next day or so, it will really be startling.

I feel a bit guilty now...I didn't realise they sometimes didn't flower (mine has always flowered a huge amount)! Whoops...

We recently bought the house from a keen gardener and although the garden is clearly beautifully planted, it's quite small and so felt so "full" and small in summer. Hence why I whipped a few bushes out 😬

WellTidy · 15/05/2019 11:58

I bought a tree peony a few years ago and mine has flowered for the first year this year too. I am really chuffed as well. Pink.

Mine has finished for this year though (I am in the SE).

I wish I'd known that they don't like being moved. I planted mine at the front of a border which was clearly a mistake for the long term.

They are often very expensive to buy so many gardeners would be glad to have an unwanted one.

I think it must be a good year.
