Total beginner - I didn’t plant this, what the hell is it?

I cleared our little weed patch in our new house, mostly just dandelions and old wood chip. There was a lot of roots, and I cleared everything.

I then planted some bulbs from a b&q summer pack, it was dahlias and gladiolus, a few iris and some sunflowers from seed.

I’ve got a huge plant come up around all the stuff I’ve planted! Plant snap identifies it as a prunus cherry plum. Would I have planted that without knowing? Is it a weed? Is it possibly from the cherry blossom trees we have outside and got blown in on the wind and landed in my cleared patch? I am very confused 😂

Can you post a photo of it?

Yes, that would help, wouldn’t it!

I think it is a sapling from the nearby trees. I find baby ash saplings all over my garden due to our weeping ash.

Could PlantSnap be wrong? The other option it had was dogwood but that looks large and whatever this is, it wasn’t there last year either.

That actually looks like a copper beech sapling! Is there a tree growing nearby? It would have been there last year though and just lost it’s leaves in winter, it’s way too big for a new seedling.

I agree looks like copper beech. We get lots in our garden and the 'parent' tree is 3 gardens over.
