A few years ago a gardener identified this tree as Portuguese Laurel. Its always been fine. New this year are webs, also seen in my local woodland. Does anyone recognise these spun silk tents? Thank you. There are no nibbles to the leaves and no caterpillars yet.

Could be the ermine moth. They make big tent-like webs apparently.

Thank you so much. I will wait and see. I read in Isabella Tree’s Wilding, that the rare purple emperor also makes tents but since that is very rare I doubt it would be.

Ermine moth sounds beautiful! 🙂 and looks like a little emperor at coronation. Really hope it is these . Thank you for the idea in any case, never heard of these before.

I have a picture of caterpillars from a neighbouring weed and they dont look like box caterpillars. Would be wonderful if it was the ermine moth.
