Hi there - advice sought from my trusty mumsnetters please. Looking to update our garden - one of the areas is the wooden fence - thought of painting it more contemporary colour (it's bog standard green atm) with minimalist border of black planters with box or some "standard" shaped type of tree/shrub..however finding it really difficult to get "true" colour of wood paint/stain..Cuprinol Pebble trail came out white (it looks grey on pot/brochure)..so am thinking of Wilko Grey Slate - anyone used this/can offer advice/sources of inspiration please. Don't want to make costly mistake.

Do you mean Wilko city slate?

I painted this old bench and succulent stand I make from an old ladder in Wilko city slate last year. Really good quality garden paint and I am thinking of using the same to redo the sheds this year.

That's looks very much like Cuprinol silver birch I used on my bin store.

Cuprinol Urban slate is another great colour, my dad used it on his fences, they look fab, will use that next time. I used lavender for my shed and that looks great too.

thank you all for responding - the greys looks fab. More Match pots needed I think.

I’ve spent the weekend painting my fence with Cuprinol Silver Copse - it’s currently on offer at Wilko and Wickes.

I haven’t got a picture unfortunately, but I bought it after seeing a photo of someone else’s garden on here that had used it! It might depend on the what you’re painting over, but I’d say it looks lighter in my garden than the image on the tin, which I’m happy with.

Good luck with whatever you pick - the job has taken me longer than anticipated, but it’s worth it. Don’t forget to come back with pictures when you’re done Smile

Thank you Mrs Kipling - this is what I'm finding - looks lighter than on tins/brochures. Many thanks!

I’m probably too late but I’ve used Wilkinson’s City slate on my fences and lots of other wood in my garden and I love it! Garden is a work in progress but you can see the colour. Great quality paint too. I’m going to use their urban slate colour on some bits next - hoping they compliment!

Hi there

Finally decided on Wilko Dark Smoke - looks very trendy coupled with Wilko solar downlighters on each fence post and some bright green cordylines. Used a spray gun and it took no time at all.
