This is growing in my late Father's garden and I want to try and propagate it before the house is sold (I don't have room for the whole thing). It's about a metre tall, perennial and on clay soil. I think the flowers open into big trumpets. Not fuchsia. Any ideas?

Ooh, looks like a crinodendron hookerianum, or Chilean lantern tree. Nice!

I’d agree with pp. lovely plant, apparently can grow to 8ft.

Thanks both - that's it! Googling seems to suggest it's possible to propagate by cuttings so I will give it a go. Otherwise I might have to squeeze it in my garden somewhere (and hide a rather large hole from the new owners Grin)

Are you sure you don’t have room for it???
You could purchase something inexpensive for the hole.
