Spreading plant that likes clay soil?

I've recently levelled out my front garden and there is a section that I can't level as the concrete sticking out supports the wall above.

My idea is to plant something that spreads to hide the fact it's a slight slope. The soil is clay-like and rubbish. The garden is shady for the majority of the day.

I'd be grateful for any ideas!

You will need something evergreen so it doesn't look bare in winter. Lots of shrubs fit the bill or do you simply want creeping groundcover like Ajuga which comes in lots of colours or variegated ivy?

I’ve had massive success with lavender in our clay soil that’s mostly shady. It just exploded!

Two years ago I planted a £2 reduced half dead pot of lambs ears into a new raised bed. The soil used for the new bed was clay soil taken up from an old lawn.
The lambs ears should have hated the clay soil but 2 years on one small 9 cm pot from the garden centre reduced bin is now about a metre across and 2/4 wide and thriving.

Lamium (dead nettle or Archangle ) grows well on all sorts of rubbish soil, especially th yellow variegated tripe.

I'm my atrocious clay garden the things trying to take over the world are bugle (ajuga), periwinkle and campanula. Also sage, surprisingly. I think the London pride would be doing better except the bugle is trying to strangle it.

I like periwinkle. It does get around though.

Geranium phaeum is another one that will spread and self-seed.
