Unknown Plants! Help us Identify Them

We have recently had some rain which has caused plants in the garden to really grow. THis inlcudes, however, this patch with these plants which we are not sure about!

Could the ones on the outside be Jerusalem artichokes? We did have one planted in that general area last year, but we couldn't find it when we came to dig it up Blush. What do you think? And what about the one in the centre?

They could be several things, from weeds to annuals. If you can I’d wait a while to see what they look like when they’re a little bigger.

Look like weeds to me.

DustyDoorframes · 30/04/2019 19:17

Looks like weeds to me too, though I'd wait and see- and I'd definitely expect the artichokes to be spreading busily too...

Picture one looks like it could be balloon flower and picture three looks like a weed. Picture too not discernable enough, give it time, which you have, before any weeds set seed. They wont hurt you till then.

THanks for the comments. Pictures 1-3 are all of the same area but from different angles (I thought to help identification, but it seems not). If they are weeds they are growing in nearly a perfect circle around the middle different looking plant.

Can wait and see as we won't plant in that area for at least another 2-3 weeks.

So Now that the season is over, I am not sure what the one in the middle was. However, we got Jerusalem artichokes in that patch, in a nice pretty circle.

The one in the bottom right corner looks good for Jerusalem artichoke which means that several of the others may be too. Is the one in the centre something cabbage-ey?

Abrahamkin · 11/11/2019 18:37

I think the one in the centre ended up being choked of all light/oxygen/everything by the huge forest of Jerusalem artichokes that grew around it. SO never found out what it was.
