Could they be yarrow?

Missingthesea · 30/04/2019 14:38

Not sure about the first one, but the second one looks as if it's Creeping Buttercup. It is a weed, it's quite pretty when in flower but spreads like mad.

cakeandchampagne · 30/04/2019 14:50

Second one is unknown to me.

ToftheB · 30/04/2019 15:57

Yep, I’d say that the first one is achillea (or yarrow) and second one is a buttercup.

littlemeitslyn · 30/04/2019 16:42

You certainly don't want creeping buttercup!!

MoreHairyThanScary · 30/04/2019 18:53

Yes and yes

florentina1 · 30/04/2019 19:32

I love Achillea and I am sure that is correct. The creeping buttercup is a weed but a matter of taste. I let it run free in a wild bit of my garden as it is great for beneficial insects. A soon as it starts to seed I rip it out. Still comes back each year though.

pinkgloves · 30/04/2019 19:34

Those creeping buttercups are FUCKERS. AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

Ohyesiam · 30/04/2019 19:37

As people have said , the first one is yarrow ( achillea) . There is a wild version, but lots of garden varieties are really pretty. The wild version isn’t really a weed as such , in that it’s not invasive. I’ve never seen a garden with a nasty case of yarrow, like you do dandelion or bindweed.

pinkgloves · 30/04/2019 19:39

We have lots of yarrow and I quite like it.

AGoodWench · 30/04/2019 19:42

I'd keep first one and call it a wildflower. I have to say the buttercup gets on my nerves as it romps around
my grass, so I get rid of it in the borders when I can.

florentina1 · 30/04/2019 19:45

@pinkgloves heeeee heeee heee .I love a post that is short and to,the point.

Harebellsies · 30/04/2019 19:57

Yarrow is wonderful. Second is buttercup and aggressive so dig out as soon as you can otherwise it will take over thr whole bed.

granadagirl · 30/04/2019 23:11

Thank you all for posting your replies 😀

I’d only seen 3 by the time I’d decided what to do, not knowing what yarrow was(😲) should of bloody Googled
I bought it last year!!!
I Only now it as Achillea

Anyway I’ve left only a tiny bit as I had tiny feeling it was a plant(hope it develops and grows back😠

The second is all gone!!

Thanks again all
If I need anymore help, I’ll defo be back

I'm afraid the creeping buttercup will be back too! Never mind, all you can do is pull it up as soon as you notice it. Eventually perhaps it will think "Sod this, I'm off to find somewhere I'm more welcome....missingthesea's garden might do!" Grin
