In Seville last year I came across this, can anyone tell me what it is please?

It's Celosia cristata, commonly called the Cockscomb plant, and grown as an annual.

Great thank you Nan. Cockscomb sounds quite prosaic for such a showy plant!

Well it does look like a cock's comb!
