Putting paving slabs on dirt

Hello

Would it be madness to put a few paving slabs here, just for somewhere not dirty to sit?

Not mad at all, maybe put some weed control membrane down first, then a thin (about an inch) layer of builders sand. If you can't be bothered with that just go for it anyway. You can always move them again in the future.

Slabs laid on soil tend to become uneven quite quickly. As pp says, a heavy duty weed membrane will help. Or stone over the membrane and rake to a level.
