Is it just me or has this summer been pretty crap for garedening?

My toms have blight although I think I have brought them back from the brink I have had to copper sulphate them for the first time ever.

My potatoes have blight - I have dug up most but about a third of the crop was effected.

My broad beans have rust. Picked the lot today, blanched and froze but lost quite a few.

Courgettes are abundant but many are rotten on the end and I have to cut lots off.

Apart from a bit of tom blight at the end of last summer I have never had these probs. Too much rain I guess

It's the abundance of slugs and snails and the lack of opportunities to get out there that have been my main issues.

All my flowers are sodden and drooopy.

I resorted to slug pellets for the first time this year. I got fed up having everything eaten. It now looks like a massacre on my veg plot.

We have the slug population of the whole of London, in our garden

Very few spuds, had to dig up the cherry tree for various reasons and its not surviving the transplant, creatures ate the srawberries.
But, we're going to have a million apples, twice as many plums, and the runner beans are still alive at the moment!

I've only been in to gardening for 10 or 11 years, and I think it's been the worst year I've ever experienced. I've also had a slug problem and resorted to pellets for the first time. At least that's meant that the sunflowers have survived (even then, they're not doing especially well). But my bedding plants have had it. One lot got eaten by slugs and the 2nd lot (to replace the first lot!), have just given up because of the waterlogged clay soil that I have.
At least the front garden (that has better drainage) looks OK (would have looked even better if some sh*ts hadn't stolen my solar lights 2 weeks ago, that I had at the front!)

Mustrunmore, no you don't, WE have the slug population for London. I've just bought some pet-friendly pellets - I was planning to be very green and laissez faire, but since most of my carefully planted sunflowers have been chewed to this, This MEANS WAR.

I comfort myself that there wouldn't have been a sun for the flowers to look at anyway .

That said, this is my first year in this garden, and the coolish damp weather has stopped the soil turning to concrete and been good for the reseeded lawn, which is looking very green. I've been finding it easy to dig the soil over and plant things in the gaps, and as it's been wet, haven't had to worry about them drying out. Almost every new thing I've planted seems to be settling in nicely - as long as the B**Y slugs keep away !
