Does anyone know what these are? Are they beneficial or harmful? Should I be trying to get rid of them? If so, how?

There are loads in the garden, both in the borders and in containers (only perennials and shrubs, no veg), mostly not on the surface but deeper down in the soil. I've been repotting recently and digging around in the borders a lot as I'm revamping the beds.

They are 2-3cm when they are uncurled but they mostly wriggle/writhe around a lot in a 'curly mess'.

It's a centipede, gardener's friend. They are predators ( most fast running insects are hunters/predators), they feed on other soil bugs so it's good news that you have plenty!
