Something big that will grow against a wall in a container

It needs to be a container because it will be against the house on the drive.

It can be v windy here, and it's coastal.

Stuff that grows well in these parts: pyracantha, cotoneaster, climbing hydrangea, ceanothus.

Should I be thinking of a rose? Not sure I can be bothered with rigging up wires etc. I know pyracantha and ceanothus are easy, but will they thrive in a pot? I'd like whatever it is to end up large.

Oops, forgot to say, the wall is east facing.

How about a fig tree?

Ooh, interesting! I hadn't thought of a tree.

I'm not sure about light levels though. The Guardian says they're easy to grow, and thrive in a pot but need sun, and the RHS says they need shelter. I love the look of them though, so will add it to the list of options.
