We bought two year old plum, cherry and apple trees last spring. They are planted in raised beds, they will not grow much beyond 2 metres.
I watered them well all summer, and fed them well on planting. They are properly supported. I was hoping for great things, but the cherry tree was ravaged by aphids, which I could not get rid of. I clearly wasn't alert to the problem when it first started and by the time I tried treating it, the aphids completely covered the underside of each and every leaf, which then withered, browned and fell off.
I am keen to do the right thing from the beginning this year. What should I be buying please, and when should I start using it and how frequently?
