My scabious are being moved leaving a bare area that I want to put a Canadian blue Hosta in, with some nice tall flowers in and around it...

I was thinking Iris Siberica but they along with everything else I’ve seen have a frustratingly small flowering period!

Are there any nice fairly tall flowers I could put there with a nice long flowering period, May to September ideally.

Liatris, delphiniums, salvias, and verbascum are my suggestions.

Lupins, delphiniums, verbena bonasaris, salvias can become nice and bushy and flower for ages, lavender, snap dragons.

Foxgloves go June to September. Or Gaura are May to September.

Gaura look perfect thank you!

The other suggestions are all gorgeous too but what I can see the flowering periods are just too short for me sadly.

Veronicastrum

If the flowering periods are too short, how about a combination of plants mentioned so that you have successional flowering?

Doggydoggydoggy · 27/03/2019 11:35

thomashardy not enough room for that unfortunately Sad

Perovskia might work - tall, spiky blue flowers from early/mid summer to late September. The bees love it too!

ThomasHardyPerennial · 27/03/2019 12:16

That's a shame op! How about Acanthus Mollis?

longtompot · 27/03/2019 20:47

Lupins flower from Mat to Sept if you deadhead them.

Verbena bonasaris is from June to early autumn.

Salvias flower May June and if you keep cutting back they will flower for even longer.
