I’ve never really noticed this bush before, but this year it is suddenly loaded with the most beautiful flowers. Can you please tell me what it is?

Its a flowering currant. I saw one yesterday just as you describe and realised I miss the one I had in my old house.

Beautiful....but smells nasty!

I have one of these, bought in Tesco for £7 this time last year. It is doing brilliantly for a young plant. A garden a few doors down from me has a more established one, so I am looking forward to the next few years of it.

Definitely flowerering currant, I made the mistake of cutting some and bringing it indoors once, it smells like cat wee.
