Apologies to those who responded to my original post. I am looking for a good rose to plant in my brother's front garden. He has mental health issues and I support him to live in his own home. I'm off there this Saturday and we'll go to the garden centre. I posted on this previously and got some lovely suggestions, but cant find the original post now,He wants a white one with a fragrance. I think someone recommended Iceberg and there were some other suggestions. Thanks again!

i would say iceberg as well

Thanks Labaz. I’ve also seen a rose called Tranquility on a website which looks lovely, also St Ethelburga, they’re obviously less well known than iceberg, just wondering if anyone has one of them?

I am not overly keen on Iceberg because the blooms always seem to look top heavy on the branches. Clare Austin iand Woolerton Old Hall are both lovely. I have Tranquility which smell heavenly but mine is more pale cream than white. David Austi. And Peter Beale have good websites to help you choose.

Desdemonda a thing of utter beauty

Well I’ve been to the garden centre and they didn’t have all the David Austin roses, the choice was really Winchester cathedral or Tranquility so I went for Tranquility. Thanks for everyone and their suggestions. If I ever have a bigger garden I’d be tempted by a Desdemona. I only have a small back yard and room for 1 rose only, I have Mme Hardy which is glorious for 2 weeks of the year. Maybe next time I won’t be quite so “ hardcore old roses” Grin.
