We've started planting our loosely themed oriental / tropical garden and have some spaces at the lower end flowerbed.
We had intentions of planting black bamboo , but when it turned up the roots had surrounded the huge pot it came in with the most thick scary bark like roots that our hard landscaper guy will have to hack out. If we put it in the bottom space it could start to push up the patio and go into next garden.
So we need some ideas for tall well covered plants or hedge types.
We already have a mix of red Acers , Japanese cedar , banana leaf, grasses , cordylines & smoke bushes.
The other problem is that we need to hide a rather ugly large drain cover sitting near the front of our driveways flowerbed , its surrounded by a 5inch beige cement edge all the way round. I was thinking Hostas, but will they cover a wide enough area iykwim??? as they work with the graphic clean plant style we like.
