Apologies for clueless message. Can anyone recommend or advise against ordering hedging plants from hedges direct/hedginguk or the like?

Trying to order around 25 grisselinia for hedge along our front garden and trade garden centre gardener would normally order from hasn’t got enough stock.

Biggest issue with ordering online is getting them planted up as soon as they arrive, if I remember correctly I didn't get a fixed delivery date so just had to stop work and plant as soon as the boxes arrived.
A volunteer group I'm part of got given hedge plants for woodland trust and most have died, very small with barely any roots so I'd recommend buying the biggest you can afford.

i ordered 10 large yew trees for a hedge from hope grove nurseries online. They arrived on a pallet wrapped in cling film. They were well packaged.

My complaints are that they "hid" a couple of puny plants in the middle of the pack which were only discovered after i unpacked them.

quality - ok. i have 2 which are slowly dying (i think, they are going brown....grr...) but the rest seem ok.

I need to buy another 10 trees and am in two minds about ordering online. Its the prices that get me, much cheaper. And the availability. My local nurseries don't have the availability.

I did order my dwarf box from a local nursery at full price and it is doing well. But my neighbour ordered hers for about 25% of the cost online and i think hers is doing better than mine!

i would go for it online.

Okay, thanks really helpful advice. Price better online but it’s really the availability driving this! I guess root balls need planting immediately but thought perhaps pot grown would be okay to wait a bit?
